Owls Barn

In light of the recent horsemeat contamination scandal I felt it necessary to reassure you that we do not use processed foods at all here at Avon Lee Lodge. All of our meat is locally sourced through Owls Barn in Sopley, the provenance of which can be readily traced.

They use traditional farming methods. This means they do not to use any artificial fertilisers, synthetic pesticides, hormones or prophylactic drugs when rearing their animals, and feed them naturally.

Their land is made up of water meadows on the River Avon and parkland that was once part of Sopley Manor House. 100 acres of further land is farmed at Hillside, 2 miles away at Ripley, which is rough pasture converted from forestry in the 1950’s.

The kitchen manager and I sourced this supplier three years ago because of their ethos, and the local provenance from field to kitchen, as well of course, as its quality. If you have any further questions regarding the above please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Kirsty.

Mr. Leigh Kennedy.
