“My father had been a resident at Avon Lee for 5 years. As he became more frail the staff often went ‘the extra mile’ to keep his spirits up and to help him maintain his independence.
During his ‘final week’ the staff could not have done more – some even came in to see him on their day off “in case something happens and we don’t see him again”.
On the day that he died their care and dedication shone through and made his last day as comfortable as possible. He was able to keep his dignity – we all felt cared for. I still visit there even though he is no longer here.”
