We spoke with a visiting GP who told us they had no concerns about the standard of care delivered at the home. They told us the care workers knew the people and their medication well and delivered good person centred care.
One visiting relative we spoke with told us “The staff look after everyone very well here and they are always very friendly and helpful, we feel like part of the family”. Another relative told us “I’m always kept up to date with any changes; she has settled in very well, I don’t have to worry about her any more”.
One person we spoke with told us “I have no problems at all, I have a very nice room and I can get out into the garden when I want”. Another person we spoke with told us, “The care here is excellent, the carers come straight away if I call them or if I have to use the alarm call”.
We spoke with seven people who lived in the home. People told us the care at the home was “excellent” and they could not think of anything they would like to improve.
One person we spoke with told us, “Its lovely living here I’m very pleased I decided to move in”. We asked them if they had been involved in choosing to move into the home. They replied “Oh yes definitely”.
Another person we spoke with who lived in the home told us “The care is excellent here, I am very lucky to live here”.
One person we spoke with who lived in the home said “I really enjoy living here, the staff are very kind, I have a lovely room and I am looked after really well”
It was extremely apparent that the home took great pride in their staff and this was clear during our inspection.
Staff we spoke to told us “It’s really good, we get regular supervisions and great training” and “Avon Lee is the best home I have worked for, support is brilliant and we get very good training, I feel very supported by the manager, deputy manager and my colleagues”.
One relative told us “staff are brilliant, dad is very happy here”. One person told us “it’s just perfect, staff are excellent”. “I am very independent and staff allow me to be which is great”.
“My father had been a resident at Avon Lee for 5 years. As he became more frail the staff often went ‘the extra mile’ to keep his spirits up and to help him maintain his independence.” “During his ‘final week’ the staff cold not have done more – some even came in to see him on their day off “in...
